Paul Urbach

Former leader of Optics Research Group now, Optics Cluster

After obtaining a PhD at Groningen Unversity, Paul Urbach joined Philips Research Laboratory in Eindhoven (“Nat.Lab” as it was known at the time), where he was appointed Principle Scientist. In 2000 he became part-time professor Diffraction Optics at Delft University of Technology. In 2008 he became group leader of the Optics Research Group of Delft University of Technology. His research interests are in direct and inverse problems of high-resolution optical imaging, diffraction theory and the application of asymptotic methods to optics.

He is active in the European Optical Society, of which he has been Board member and twice president.  He is member of the Advisory Board of the Minister of Economic Affairs on metrology and member of the Board of PhotonicsNL.
